The Battle of Gaza was a World War 1 battle that was located on the southern border of Palestine. There was actually three Battles of Gaza; the first one was in January of 1917. The second was on March 26-27 and the last one was on October 31st. The Allies were Australia, United Kingdom, and New Zealand. The Ottoman Empire made up the Central Powers. The Commander on the Allies side was Sir Archibald Murray. Tala Bey (nominal) Friedrich Freiherr Kress von Kressenstein (actual) was the commander of the Central Powers. This battle was a failure for Murray because the objects of the attack were "Firstly to seize the line of the Wadi Ghuzze to cover the advance of the railway; secondly, at all costs to prevent the emeny retiring without a fight; thirdly, if possible the capture Gaza by a coup de main and to cut off its garrison." In this battle the Allies had 22,000 people on their side and on the Central Powers side was 15,000. The Ottoman Empire took the win with 2,447 causalities. The Allies had 467 killed, 2,900 wounded, and 500 missing.
